My name is Johanna Ansel-soap maker extraordinaire.
Is soap making an unlikely art? I think not.
My art is an intimate, consumable expression. After all, most art is not used while un-clothed.
Some of my favorite tools include: a stick blender, a coffee grinder, & a whisk.
I started soaping in my shop, The Plaid Butterfly in 2009 I’ve been visiting the Island since second grade/1980.The only thing better than making soap for a living , and taking your dog to work everyday would be to do these things on Ocracoke…….a girl can dream, right?
